Privacy Policy

Grant Point Designs (“we,” “us,” or “our”) makes the Skeins by Grant Point mobile application (the “App”). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. We built the App to keep your data minimal and, wherever possible, on your device.

The short version. We don’t sell your data, we don’t run ads, and we don’t track you across other apps or websites. Your canvas photos are processed on your device to estimate thread. The only personal information we handle is what’s needed to give you an account and a subscription.

1. Information we collect

Account information

When you create an account, we collect an identifier for you so you can sign in:

  • Sign in with Apple: Apple provides us a unique identifier and the email address you choose to share (which may be a private Apple relay address). We never receive your Apple password.
  • Email & password: if you register with email, we collect your email address and a securely hashed password (managed by our authentication provider — we never store your password in plain text).

Subscription information

To provide the subscription and its free trial, we and our subscription provider process your purchase and entitlement status (for example, whether your subscription is active and when it renews). Payments are handled entirely by Apple. We do not receive or store your credit card or payment details.

Device information

To enforce our limit of two active devices per account, we store a per-device identifier associated with your account. This is used only to manage device access, not to track you.

Your project data

The App lets you save canvas estimates, thread usage logs, notes, and favorites. This information is stored on your device. If account sync is enabled, a copy is stored with our backend provider so it is available across your devices.

Photos

When you photograph a painted canvas to estimate thread, the image is processed on your device. We do not upload your full-resolution photos to our servers. A small thumbnail may be stored locally with the saved estimate so you can recognize it in your log.

2. How we use information

  • To create and secure your account and sign you in.
  • To provide the subscription, the free trial, and manage your two-device limit.
  • To store and sync your estimates, logs, notes, and preferences.
  • To respond to your support requests.
  • To protect against fraud and abuse (for example, temporarily limiting sign-in attempts after repeated failures).

We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not sell or rent it.

3. Service providers

We share limited information with providers who help us run the App. They may process it only to provide their service to us:

  • Apple — Sign in with Apple, and all subscription payments through the App Store.
  • RevenueCat — manages your subscription entitlement across devices.
  • Supabase — provides account authentication and, if enabled, sync of your saved data.
  • Connected shops (Shopify): if you choose to shop at a needlepoint retailer connected in the App, you are taken to that shop’s own checkout. Your purchase there is governed by the shop’s and Shopify’s privacy practices, not ours. We do not receive your payment information from those purchases.

4. Data retention & deletion

We keep your account information for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from Settings → Account in the App. Deleting your account removes your account record and synced data from our systems; locally stored data is removed when you delete the App from your device. Some records may be retained where required by law or by Apple for transaction and tax purposes.

5. Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your information. Sensitive values on your device are stored in the iOS Keychain, and saved project data is written with file-level encryption. No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information using industry-standard safeguards.

6. Children’s privacy

The App is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us and we will delete it.

7. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal information, or to object to certain processing. You can exercise the core of these rights directly in the App (view your account, delete your account), or by contacting us at the address below. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.

8. International users

We operate in the United States, and your information may be processed there. By using the App you understand your information may be transferred to and processed in the United States and other countries where our providers operate.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Effective” date above and, for material changes, provide notice in the App. Your continued use of the App after an update means you accept the revised policy.
